Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer, you can increase the value of your donations by allowing the University to reclaim basic rate tax (currently 20%) on all your gifts through Gift Aid. If you pay higher rate tax you can claim extra relief on your donations.

The University, which is an exempt charity, takes your donation and reclaims the basic rate tax (currently 20%) from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). For example, we receive an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, or £250 for every £1,000 you donate.

If you would like to help us increase your gift, please select the Gift Aid Declaration box on any of our forms and make sure we have your name and up to date postal address.

If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax (40 and/or 45 per cent) and the basic rate of tax on the total 'gross' value of your donation to Sussex.

For further information, including how you can calculate your higher rate tax relief, please see the HMRC website.

We can reclaim Gift Aid on any donations made in the past four years. If you have previously made a donation and didn't complete a declaration at the time, please complete the declaration form below so that we are able to collect the additional funds.
