Abstract In this study, H2DCF-DA fluorescence of root and the response of the antioxidant and C-4 photosynthetic enzymes to salt stress were determined in Salicornia Bigelovii Torr. In response to NaCl stress, PEPC and NADP-ME enzymes activities were induced. At the concentration NaCl stress (200-400 mmol.L-1), the system of antioxidant enzymes could scavenge the reactive oxygen species in time. H2DCF-DA fluorescence was not remarkably observed in root region under 400 mmol.L-1 but in control suggesting that the roots were less damaged. These results indicated that Salicornia Bigelovii possessed the high photosynthetic capacity and exhibited protection mechanism against medium salt stress (200-400 mmol.L-1) by maintaining the specific activity of antioxidant enzymes.
