Find out about Sussex's socially responsible investment policy
Independent investment company, Liontrust, manages the University’s investments in accordance with our Socially Responsible Investment policy.
The team from Liontrust and the University’s Finance team are holding an open Q&A session for students and staff on Thursday 14 March in the ACCA’s Gardner Tower from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm.
While many institutions now take a socially responsible approach to their investment policy, Sussex is one of the few that positively screens its global investments in companies that meet high standards of environmental and social responsibility.
Come along to find out about how the University's investment policy is influenced by the values and aims of the Sussex 2025 strategy, helping it become a more sustainable and environmentally responsible institution by basing investments on strict criteria such as:
- Impact and Sustainable Development Goals
- Encouraging sustainable use of plastics
- Anti-bribery & corruption
- Responsibility in apparel supply chains
- Promoting gender diversity
- Encouraging corporate tax responsibility
- Ensuring privacy & data security
- Value creation in the healthcare system
Allan Spencer, Director of Finance for the University, said: “Making socially responsible investments is incredibly important to us; however, it’s not always as simple as it may sound.
“Liontrust have demonstrated a thorough approach to positive screening and providing us with the assurances we require.
“We want everyone in our community to have the chance to understand more about our policy and how Liontrust will represent our investments, so please do come along to our meeting for staff and students to find out more.”
