Job description

This vacancy is only open to those currently employed by the University.

The Doctoral School is seeking to appoint a self-directed, committed and enthusiastic Senior Coordinator to oversee the Undergraduate Research Office at Sussex.

The post holder will also support postgraduate research recruitment activities, and the Researcher Development Programme in the Doctoral School.

Working with the Researcher Development Officer and the Head of the Doctoral School, the Senior Coordinator will manage the delivery of undergraduate research initiatives, including:

  • Delivery of the JRA and International JRA schemes, including recruitment and selection, training and events and day-to-day administration
  • Developing web and promotional materials and managing communications about undergraduate research
  • All aspects of financial administration
  • Acting as the first point of contact for undergraduate research, offering support and advice to students, supervisors and senior University colleagues
  • Embedding the JRA scheme within PhD widening participation and access activities at Sussex
  • Working with Recruitment & Admissions and Global Engagement to identify opportunities to grow undergraduate research activities

The post-holder will also join the Researcher Development team, supporting day-to-day operations of the Research Development Programme of doctoral community-building events, funding opportunities and workshops. A member of the Doctoral School team, the post-holder will cover the work of colleagues, including support with meetings, report writing and responding to researcher queries.
