Salary: Starting at £33,797 to £40,322 per annum (pro rata if part time)

The principal aim of the post is to create an environment at the University where career researchers can thrive. The University holds the HR Excellence in Research award, and is working towards full adoption of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. This post is pivotal to us achieving the aims of the Concordat.
The post holder will be expected to bring together colleagues across the professional services in support of the strategic aims of the Concordat, including recruitment of research fellows, engaging with research staff, implementation and ongoing compliance with the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers and other enhancement initiatives (e.g. the Euraxess UK Network). Through implementation of the Concordat, they will ensure an institutional coherence to the training and development provided for research staff across the University. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the wider work on the support and development of researchers.
Working closely with research-only contract staff representatives, senior academic staff and colleagues across the professional services, the role will be to further develop the University of Sussex’s environment for research staff.
You will be responsible for developing policy and practice and delivering project management support for matters relating to research staff. You will be expected to make a key contribution towards co-ordinating and enhancing the experience of research-only contract staff at Sussex, ensuring their treatment is in line with the institution’s values of kindness, integrity, inclusion, collaboration and courage.
There are over 400 research-only staff at the University with different disciplinary backgrounds, levels of training, experience and responsibility, types of contract (fixed-term or open ended, full or part-time), and different career expectations and intentions. Some previous experience within higher education or a human resources function will be of benefit.
