Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral position in the commercialisation of quantum technologies. Applicants should have obtained a degree in physical sciences or engineering.
The development of novel devices based on quantum mechanical effects is a high priority research area in the UK. In the ITCM research group at Sussex, the utilisation of trapped ions for portable, optical atomic clocks and for quantum computation are investigated.
With a strong drive to commercialise these devices and their sub-systems, the groups has collaborations with major companies in laser development and vacuum components.
In particular novel sub-systems and components are early outcomes of the research and their commercialisation will have a significant impact of the research programme.
This projects aim to translation a diode laser based optical system for portable quantum technologies and the electronic control system into a viable commodity.
The project is in close collaboration with an industry partner to facilitate the fast commercialisation of the respective components.
