Contract: fixed term for 2 years, with the possibility of extension
Salary: Grade 7 starting at £33,199 to £39,609 per annum, or Grade 8, starting at £40,792 to £48,677 per annum

The Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), within the University of Sussex Business School, is seeking to appoint two Research Fellows to join the DRIVA project (Digital Research & Innovation Value Accelerator) and Creative Industries Policy Evidence Centre led by Dr Josh Siepel. The DRIVA project aims to support digital businesses to engage in knowledge transfer and innovation with data. The Policy Evidence Centre provides independent research and recommendations that will aid the development of policies for the UK's creative industries.
The Research Fellows will contribute to the collection of quantitative and qualitative research data on SMEs and their patterns of innovation, the analysis of this data in collaboration with subject experts, and engagement with the wider projects and partners locally, regionally and nationally. Essential criteria for the posts are:
- PhD in economics, management (strategy), economic geography, public policy, innovation studies or related subject.
- Experience in quantitative research, including data collection (ideally surveys and their analysis) and econometric analysis.
- Experience of (or willingness to) undertake qualitative research.
- Ability to write for both academic and policy audiences.
- Ability to interact with non-academic stakeholders and present research findings in an accessible form.
- An interest in studying innovation in the creative industries
The Research Fellows may be appointed at Grade 7 or 8, dependent on experience.
