Job description

The University of Sussex is a dynamic, innovative, top 20 university. With a campus based in the South Downs National Park but just a few minutes from the city of Brighton and Hove, it provides an excellent working environment in a remarkable setting, combined with all that the city has to offer.

This role is a post-doctoral research fellowship for three years to work with Professor Thomas Ormerod in the School of Psychology to develop quantized computational models of human decision-making.

The role holder will be a psychologist with skills in computational modelling using quantum and Bayesian methods, as well as experience in running psychological experiments in both online and face-to-face environments.

Working within the Cognitive Research group in the School of Psychology, you will develop an independent programme of research, with a flexible approach to teamwork and a willingness to contribute to teaching and administrative duties as required. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience of programming and computational model development, using a range of IT environments.

This is an excellent opportunity to bring a range of skills and experience to bear in an exciting time of growth at one of the UK’s top Universities, with a genuine opportunity for career progression.

If you would like to discuss the role in further detail, please contact Prof. T. Ormerod in the School of Psychology, t.ormerod@sussex.ac.uk.
