Job description 

The Department of Accounting and Finance is looking to recruit up to two full-time faculty members at Professorial level in the area of Accounting.

Candidates with research focus must be able to demonstrate a record of producing world-leading research and outstanding teaching. The Accounting Group has existing expertise in the area of accounting, accountability and governance in/of public-private partnerships, public and non-profit sector organisations in emerging economies and developed countries.

We are looking for an individual with an exciting research agenda that either complements or adds to the interests of our current faculty. The Department values ‘quality over quantity’.

Candidates with education focus require outstanding contributions in the areas of strategic and operative programme and module planning and delivery, innovation and scholarship in teaching, student recruitment, engagement activities and administration. The post holder will be responsible for the strategic development of the Department’s current Accounting courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as for potential new programmes.

For this post, extensive experience of developing and leading courses (including analyses of the student market and recruiting students) across different modes of delivery, including distance and blended learning, is required. The candidate should have a proven track record of making substantial contributions to the administration of academic departments at senior level. Teaching awards and a Principal Fellowship of AdvanceHE (PFHEA) are assets.

The applicant should have a substantial portfolio of high-quality publications (peer-reviewed articles and case studies) in the area of teaching and learning innovation.

The successful candidate will be an engaged academic who enjoys working in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment and shows enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues within the department and across disciplines. It is expected that the successful applicant will assume administrative roles within the department within a reasonable period of taking up the post.
