The University has recently launched a new strategy, Sussex 2025. Central to this is a reimagining of the original spirit of the university for new times and a new generation. With an additional emphasis on being disruptive by design, this clearly provides a great opportunity for creative minds to explore how we do this in the digital world.

Whether you come from in-house, agency or a higher education background, you will need excellent client and customer service skills, working as you will alongside our academic Schools and Professional Services divisions. You will need a good understanding of how different digital assets can be used to best effect to make a compelling online offer that ensures an engaging user experience. A keen eye for detail and skills and experience in writing copy for the web, HTML and SEO is essential, as well as having knowledge of developing other digital assets to help deliver high quality digital content to further enhance the Sussex website and brand with a particular focus on overseas audiences.

Core activities in this role include copywriting, webpage content design, ensuring relevant web pages work in tandem with high quality digital and social media campaigns and are search engine friendly, undertaking detailed competitor research and ensuring that Sussex content continues to engage. The Digital Content Officer will be based in the International Office working alongside the University’s Digital and Creative Media Team. They will work closely with International Officers to develop content for the University’s target overseas markets, ensuring that content and page elements comply with University brand and web standards.

This is an exciting time to join the International Office team within the Student Recruitment, Admissions and International Development division at Sussex. The work of the team is pivotal to the University’s brand development overseas. We take an evidence based approach to our recruitment and marketing communications at Sussex and a significant area of work for the Digital Content Officer will be providing a detailed knowledge of the changing nature of digital engagement internationally , our competitors, as well as delivering comprehensive evaluation of our web metrics to refine our activities.
