Applications are invited from confident, well-organised and self-motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal skills to work as Health Coaches for the “Prevention of Dementia using Mobile Phone Applications” (PRODEMOS) EU-funded project.
We will shortly be recruiting a large number of participants to our clinical trial from local communities in Sussex, Kent, and Surrey. The aim of the trial is to explore how people living in deprived areas in the UK can engage with a cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention mobile phone app, supported by a health coach, to reduce their risk of developing dementia. By contacting participants face-to-face and through the app, the health coach will help participants to target lifestyle behaviours, in order to improve their current health and their future risk of disease.
The post holder will support PRODEMOS study participants taking part in the trial, by providing healthy lifestyle coaching in person, by telephone and through the app using motivational interviewing techniques (full training will be given if necessary). This will enable participants to set realistic goals for lifestyle changes which are manageable and which they able to adhere to throughout the period of the trial.
The post holder will also be required to provide limited technological guidance on the mobile app to our study participants, and feedback to the study team on how the app works in practice.
We are looking for a number of part-time post holders. The ability to work flexibly, and travel around the local area (Kent, Surrey, and Sussex) to accommodate the needs and availability of the trial participants, is desirable.
