The University of Sussex is a community of approximately 18,000 students. Vibrant, innovative, the University community has created a new strategic framework Sussex 2025. Ambitious and inspiring, co-creation, student development, the creation of opportunities and success feature strongly. The Student Experience Division are now seeking to appoint a forward thinking, innovative Head of Careers, Employability and Entrepreneurship who aligned with our core values (https://www.sussex.ac.uk/strategy/) successfully manages and implements the new Employability strategy for the University.
Employability is very important to us as are ‘world readiness’ skills that can be used in all facets of life, therefore preparing our students for the variety of careers that lie ahead of them or that they indeed create for themselves. Meaningfully embedding employability and entrepreneurial skills within the curriculum combined with the intention that every student should experience real world learning within or outside of the curriculum is at the heart of the approach.
To achieve our desired outcomes and outputs requires the ability to drive collaborative and effective partnerships across the entire institution and beyond. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility, leadership and entrepreneurial flair together with innovative practice, knowledge of the key challenges and opportunities and a ‘can do’ approach to finding solutions.
If you are excited by the opportunity and challenge that this role presents and are keen to play a leading role in supporting our students ambitions and their futures then we look forward to hearing from you.
