Job description

The School of Engineering and Informatics are looking to recruit a Graduate Academic Success Advisor to work with the Director of Student Experience, Heads of Department and Senior Tutors to provide advice and support to students on the development of subject-specific academic skills.

The post holder will:

  • Assist in the provision of academic skills support and advice to students within the School
  • Respond to individual requests from students for assistance and advise on aspects of their studies, using Skills Hub and School resources to inform responses
  • Refer students on to other support services as appropriate
  • Assist in research and planning as part of the development of an ongoing strategy for academic advice and support within the School of Engineering and Informatics   
  • Support student engagement and communication activities and events when required.

The successful candidate will have experience in providing academic support to undergraduate students in informal or formal contexts (e.g. peer-assisted learning or mentoring). They will have excellent communication skills and experience of handling large volumes of work within defined timescales, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and be able to plan and organise their work.

Applicants should be a graduate from the School of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Sussex in 2020-21 or 2021-22.
