Contract: Fixed term for 13 months
Salary: Grade 3 starting at £19,133 per annum

Open to graduates or postgraduates from any University of Sussex course from the winter or summer 2019 cohorts and students graduating in January 2020. The Sussex Graduate Programme provides our recent graduates with the opportunity to gain vital work experience and the opportunity to develop key employability skills.
This role sits within the Development & Alumni Relations Office (DARO) within the External Relations Division and provides engagement opportunities for alumni and external friends to become ambassadors and volunteers for the University, as well as supporting scholarships, student hardship and research.
The role is the main link between the School of Law, Politics and Sociology (LPS) and our alumni. To help facilitate good links with colleagues across the School, the role holder will work at least one day a week in LPS.
The role holder will support DARO and the School of LPS to increase student and alumni engagement by:
- using social media and digital communications to engage with alumni and students and raise awareness of alumni programmes and events
- developing case studies of alumni and student experiences, such as mentoring and studying at Sussex
- contributing to DARO and LPS communications with alumni
- supporting the collection of feedback from alumni and students engaged with DARO and LPS mentoring and volunteering programmes, and events
- helping to facilitate events involving alumni
- working with DARO and LPS colleagues and students to identify appropriate alumni for future engagement.
Initiative, creativity and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, are essential. Experience of working with volunteers, customer engagement or marketing is required; this may have been gained in short term work experience or a part time role.
A positive approach to team working and the ability to engage with enthusiasm in this exciting role to enhance alumni engagement and enrich the student experience is required.
