The University of Sussex is a key player in the UK National Quantum Technologies programme and main partner in two of four national Quantum Technology Hubs set up and funded by ESPRC. The Sussex Programme for Quantum Research (SPQR) was founded in 2017 and is one of four strategic research centres at the University of Sussex, created to address key challenges and opportunities facing contemporary society by optimising inter-disciplinary expertise.
SPQR is jointly led by Professors Peter Krueger and Alan Dalton and currently spans five University of Sussex Schools and Units, with active and associate research groups in Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics; Materials Physics; Chemistry; Sussex Neuroscience; Clinical Imaging Science Centre (Brighton and Sussex Medical School); Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science and the Genome Centre. Our research focus on the development of quantum technologies is now poised to deliver end-user applications in fields including computing, medicine, navigation and materials and our next phase will see the roll-out of tangible, quantifiable advances in these areas.
Applications are therefore now invited for a Business Development and Strategy Officer, to work with SPQR leaders and member teams to develop SPQR’s internal network and promote our interests across the wider University, and to research and build an external network of potential commercial partners and investors, creating viable industry links.
The Business Development and Strategy Officer will be based in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, in Pevensey 2 building on the University of Sussex campus at Falmer, Brighton.
