Job description

The University wishes to recruit an Assistant Projects Business Partner to provide financial analytical services and business partnering support to project owners and other stakeholders engaged in the delivery of the University’s £260m capital and infrastructure investment plan.

Reporting to the Central Projects Business Partner, you will:

  • Provide financial support and advice on the annual Long Term Maintenance and the IT Technical Teaching Space upgrade programmes.
  • Provide analysis and advice to project stakeholders and Finance Division senior management on a range of projects across the capital investment plan.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the budgeting and forecasting structure which underpins capital project and programmes reporting.
  • Provide reports, information and analysis for financial decision making by project steering groups, committees and Finance Division senior managers.
  • Prepare analysis and accounting entries for month end and yearend financial reporting.

Candidates are invited to apply and must have:

  • Experience of working in a financial reporting role and be studying for full professional accountancy qualification OR
  • Have a minimum 2 years of experience working in a similar role for an organisation of similar size and complexity.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with a variety of people and departments.
  • Highly numerate with good IT skills, an intermediate excel user and with experience of multi-user finance systems.

Ideally you will have experience of working in a financial reporting role for projects investing in buildings & construction, civil works and IT systems and infrastructure. You will be familiar with UNIT 4 (Agresso) finance systems and IBM Planning and Analytics tools, although this is non-essential and training will be provided.
