Post-16 students

If you're a student on the First-Generation Scholars scheme at one of our partner colleges or in the sixth form at a partner school, you can get advice and information on applying to university, and attend subject- specific programmes and tasters of living and studying on campus.

Sussex Study Experience

Sussex Study Experience is an extended Year 12 programme offering a fantastic opportunity for students to find out what living and studying at university is like.

The programme includes a Welcome Day, three academic sessions in a chosen subject and a Graduation Ceremony once you have completed the programme. Your school or college will provide more information and direct you to apply online.

Information and advice

'Making the Most of University' talk in school or college to find out more about living, studying, working and getting involved in clubs and societies from a current university student.

Your school or college may choose to have additional talks on the UCAS system, employability and student finance.

Higher Education fairs and options evenings

Our staff and student ambassadors will often be at school or college events with prospectuses and information about university so this is a good opportunity to ask them questions about applying to university and being a student.

Year 12 summer school

In Year 12 you have the opportunity to apply to our summer school, a chance to live on campus as a student for a week, sample a degree course, stay in our accommodation and take place in evening activities.

Headstart Residential Summer School

In collaboration with Headstart, we also offer three residential programmes at the University of Sussex for year 12 students in the following areas:

Headstart also offer residential summer schools at other universities across the UK.

The summer schools focus on 'STEM' subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths) and there are several subject areas to choose from.

Open Days

Come and visit us on one of our Open Days to look around the campus. You can book your place online.
