Emergency help

Have you just been assaulted?

Are you safe?

If you feel you are still at risk or think that others may be at risk

  • On campus - call security on 3333 or 01273 873333 or go to the 24 hr Security service at York House.

  • Off campus - call the police immediately on 999.

There are emergency phones all over campus (with blue flashing lights) which will also link you to Security.

Emergency services need to be called via Security on 3333 so that they can be guided to the right place on campus.

Do you need urgent medical help?

  • Call for an ambulance - 999 or on campus on internal phones - 3333 (01273 873333) Calls go through the 24-hr Security service at York House. There are blue flashing emergency phones across campus which will connect you automatically to Security.
  • If you do not require emergency treatment, it is best not to call an ambulance. You may decide to go to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre later or go to Accident and Emergency by taxi. Read through all your options before you make a decision.

If you are not at further risk...

  • Find somewhere safe and warm as you may be in shock. If you can, phone a friend to come to you.
  • Don’t drink, eat, wash, smoke, brush your teeth, urinate or change your clothes until you decide what you want to do next.
  • Keep any used condom or bedding in a clean plastic bag.
