Student evaluation
The University student evaluation mechanisms and routes for analysing and responding to student feedback has been aligned key external and internal surveys to create a coherent, well-articulated student evaluation structure that can inform course and programme development.
The University participates in a number of external surveys, including the National Student Survey and the International Student Barometer.
The main internal survey is the Sussex Module Evaluation Questionnaire. Launched across the University in Autumn 2009, the MEQ contains a common set of quantitative questions plus space for optional School-level questions, module-level questions and scope for written comments. It is administered online via Sussex Direct. A summary of results for each course is published in Sussex Direct.
The MEQ was developed by the Student Experience Survey Working Group - a small group of academic staff, professional services staff and representatives of the Students' Union.
