Assessing students with video

Using innovative assessment to develop student skills in research, presentation, employability and digital literacies.

Prof Carol Alexander (Professor of Finance) has introduced an innovative form of assessment to enable her students to showcase and develop a range of skills. The assessment required students to produce and present their own research on an area of blockchain finance and cryptocurrency markets in the form of a short video. Students were introduced to three video production apps (Videoscribe, Adobe Spark and Screencastify) during teaching. The work was then submitted and marked using the Speedgrader software within Canvas.
