Genetics

Discover our undergraduate courses, Masters and PhD degrees in Genetics.

Genetics is a fast-paced and exciting field of modern biology. It's having a profound impact on society. Recent advances have transformed our understanding of genes and entire genomes. These developments underpin human health, biotechnology and biodiversity conservation.

Our genetics expertise spans areas such as cancer biology, neurological disorders, and population ecology. Our experts are researching the molecular basis of genes and genomes, tracking down disease genes and the use of modern methods in genetics.

We're also home to the Genome Damage and Stability Centre, a University of Sussex Centre of Excellence. Your study is based on the latest research.

You'll be trained in modern experimental techniques and hands-on work in our labs. Our courses prepare you for a variety of careers, within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, or within the NHS and healthcare for example.
