SLPA and SCIPA Progression Accords

The Sussex Liaison and Progression Accord (SLPA) is an agreement between the majority of schools and colleges within Sussex and the University of Brighton, University of Chichester and the University of Sussex. (We run a similar Accord, SCIPA, with schools and colleges in Jersey and Guernsey).

The agreements promise:

  • guaranteed offers of places or interviews to students with the right entry requirements in certain subjects offered by the three universities in Sussex
  • ongoing Higher Education support and guidance for your school or college
  • improved understanding of the choices and challenges involved in going to university for students, schools and colleges.

SEAS (Sussex Education Access Scheme)

Although entry to Sussex is competitive, the University is proud of its tradition of encouraging applications from students who come from backgrounds still under-represented in Higher Education.

Our Sussex Education Access Scheme (SEAS) is one of the main routes by which we directly encourage such students each year. Started in 2001, SEAS now helps over 4000 students a year from participating schools to prepare for university applications and student life, through taster visits and regular newsletters.

Access entrants (mature applicants)

Between October and January each year we run drop-in advice sessions for mature students needing more information on applying to University. A typical event lasts two to three hours and includes a talk on applying and the admissions procedure, a presentation on money matters and student support, an informal Q&A with a current mature student, and a guided tour of our campus.

If you would like to bring a group of mature students along to this event, or if you would like one of our senior representatives to visit your college and talk to your Access students, please do not hesitate to get in touch using the details below.
