Asa Briggs PhD Scholarship (3 year) (2017)

Applications are invited from candidates with an interest in modern British History. This award is named for the late Lord Asa Briggs, former Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sussex, and pioneer in the fields of social history and media history. Studentship covers fees (currently £4,121 per annum), and a maintenance allowance (currently £14,296 per annum)

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Have been offered a place on the PhD research degree programme in the Department of History at Sussex.
  • Submit their research proposal and a statement of personal circumstances with their application.
  • Commence the degree in September 2017 (awards cannot be deferred to subsequent years).
