Preparing for university

We’re welcoming new students onto campus on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September. If you are arriving over this weekend, you can be sure of finding a whole host of people to greet you.

Make sure you check your email over the next few weeks to find out what you need to do before you arrive.

  1. Check all our term dates

    You'll find all the important dates you'll need for your academic year ahead on our handy term dates page.

  2. Find out where you'll be living

    If you've applied for university-managed housing, our Housing Team will contact you over the next few weeks. if you're guaranteed accommodation and you applied by the correct deadline, you should receive a housing offer letter which contains information including:

    • the residence you'll be living in
    • your residence guide
    • tenancy agreement
    • start date (most students can move in from 10am on Saturday 16 September)
    • where to pick up your keys.

  3. Register

    You'll receive a registration email from us by the end of August. This will tell you how to register and include a link to our student pages if you need extra help. 

  4. Find out about life at Sussex

    Use our website to find out a little more about what it's like to study at Sussex. We'll also send you an email about our Buddy Scheme, which can help you settle into Sussex.

  5. Sort out your budget

    Check our student living costs to see how much you might need to budget for as a Sussex student. You can also check our careers pages to find out how to look for a part-time job.

  6. Check what's on during Freshers' Week

    The Students' Union have put together a packed week of events for you to choose from to get to know Sussex, Brighton and the Students' Union.
