Asian University for Women Scholarship (2018)

This unique scholarship is offered specifically for students studying at the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh, progressing on to an eligible Masters course at the University of Sussex, to celebrate the partnership between our institutions.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be:

  • Studying at the Asian University for Women
  • Offered and accept a place on an eligible Masters at Sussex
  • Selected by AUW to be considered for the award

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you already have another Sussex scholarship (i.e. Chancellors Masters Scholarship or Sussex Graduate Scholarship)

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study the following courses:

  • Postgraduate diplomas (including CPE Common Professional Examination)
  • Corruption, Law and Governance LLM (delivered in Qatar)
  • Development Studies MA
  • Early Years in Education MA
  • Globalisation, Business and Development MA
  • Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
  • Power, Participation and Social Change MA
  • Poverty and Development MA
  • Masters degrees in Social Work (if receiving a NHS bursary)
  • PGCE courses
  • Schools direct teaching courses
  • Any Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. those receiving ESRC 1+3 funding)

Application procedure

To apply for the scholarship, please submit a two page statement of intent/motivation letter indicating which Masters course you have received an offer for, along with an up to date AUW transcript, to the Ethical Selection Committee at AUW esc@auw.edu.bd

To be considered for the scholarship, you will need to have accepted an offer of a place on an eligible Masters course. Apply for a Masters at Sussex at www.sussex.ac.uk/study/masters/apply.

Timetable

Scholarship applications must be submitted to the Ethical Selection Committee of AUW by 25 March 2018

The Sussex Scholarship Program for AUW graduates is the outcome of a successful partnership between the two institutions, aiming to promote co-operation in academic programs, including joint teaching, facilitation of staff and student exchanges and opportunities for AUW students to gain scholarships for further study at Sussex.

AUW is an independent, international university in Chittagong, Bangladesh seeking to educate a new generation of leaders in Asia. The University admits students solely based on merit, regardless of income level, and nearly all students are on full scholarship with many as the first in their family to attend university. AUW offers two pre-collegiate bridge programs called Access Academy and Pathways for Promise, as well as a three-year undergraduate program based in the liberal arts and sciences. The university has more than 600 students enrolled from 15 countries across Asia and the Middle East.
