Einhorn Oestreicher Masters Scholarship (2017)

The Einhorn Oestreicher Masters Scholarship is kindly funded through the generous philanthropic support of Prof Barbara Einhorn and The Reverend Dr Paul Oestreicher in memory of their children Jessica and Daniel, and matched funding from the University.

The scholarship is open to all UK, EU and international candidates who have accepted a full-time offer of a place on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict commencing in September 2017.

The scholarship will be paid in one instalment of £10,000 in October 2017. In the first instance the scholarship will be a fee waiver, with any remaining funds paid as a maintenance payment.

Eligibility

All UK, EU and international candidates are eligible to apply.

Candidates must have accepted a full-time offer of a place on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict commencing in September 2017.

Candidates must have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a first or upper second class honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent from an overseas institution, and/or have equivalent relevant professional experience.

Candidates must meet all the University's general entrance requirements.

How to apply

Application procedure

There is a two stage process to apply for the scholarship:

Stage one: Candidates may only apply for the scholarship once they have accepted a place on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict. Candidates should therefore apply for a place on the MA at least two weeks before the scholarship deadline of 31 May in order to allow sufficient time for the MA application to be processed. Stage two: Once a place has been accepted on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict candidates should complete and return the attached scholarship application form by 31 May.

Assessment criteria

Applications will be ranked and assessed on the criteria below and preference will be given to those candidates transitioning directly from an undergraduate degree:

  • Academic performance and/or (if applicable) relevant professional experience
  • Personal circumstances
  • Career aspirations related to the field of study

Sponsors

The scholarship is available to funded and self-financing candidates. However, the successful candidate cannot be in receipt of this award and any other University of Sussex funded scholarship.
