The module covers the four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and aims to develop students' ability to communicate across cultures at Advanced level in written and spoken English. It includes work on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and a range of reading and writing tasks.
The module content will be according to CEF Level C2 (Mastery) as defined in the Common European Framework.
Module learning outcomes
- Learners will be able to use the language in a range of culturally appropriate ways at close to educated native speaker level.
- Learners will further extend their vocabulary, whilst refining their usage and command of style and register.
- Learners will be able to make full use of the press and other media, such as drama, film and literature.
- Learners will extend their repertoire of colloquial and idiomatic language which they can use appropriately in a wide range of contexts and modes.
