You will examine how modern computing systems manage, deliver and present multimedia such as audio, video, and interactive grapics. Topics that you will study include:

  • information coding
  • multimedia hardware
  • networked multimedia
  • ergonomics
  • interface design
  • multimedia applications.

Module learning outcomes

  • Show a systematic understanding of the basic principles behind human perception of visual and audio information and apply this knowledge to the evaluation of mechanisms for storage of this media.
  • Critique the latest digital media production and distribution technology.
  • Identify, explain and analyse the technological basis of the capture, display, storage and transmission of video, image and graphical based multimedia.
  • Produce well-designed interactive web based content.
