We are delighted to launch a prestigious new scholarship scheme for UK and EU students.
We welcome applications from students who have achieved or expect to achieve a first class honours degree from a UK university and who are offered a full-time place on an eligible Masters course at Sussex.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of previous or current academic performance and future potential and are available in any school at the University of Sussex (excluding the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and IDS). The Scholarships are available only for the first year of postgraduate studies in the case of two year full-time masters degrees and 1+3 courses.
Applications from students considering only a Masters degree and who are not seeking to undertake Doctoral study are welcome.
There are over 100 scholarships available each worth £3,000 to help towards tuition fees. We will begin awarding scholarships from May onwards, with monthly allocations until the final scholarships are awarded in August (see below for more details).

Procedure
If you are a UK, EU or Islands student and hold (or expect to achieve) a first class undergraduate degree from a UK University, meet the University's general entrance requirements and intend to study at the University on an eligible full-time Masters course you are eligible for consideration.
In order to be considered you must apply for admission to an eligible full-time Masters course by 1 August via the University's online postgraduate application system:
http://www.sussex.ac.uk/study/pg/applying/2013entry/onlineapplication
In addition, you must complete and submit the attached Chancellor's Masters Scholarship application form by 1 August.
Whilst you have until 1 August to submit an application for the scholarship, we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible. To help students with planning their funding, the University will award the scholarships in monthly rounds starting in May. Each round will award a proportion of the scholarships available, with successful applicants notified after each round. If you are not successful in the initial round, but meet the eligibility criteria, you will automatically be re-considered the following month alongside any new applications. The final scholarships will be awarded in August, with all outcomes notified by 9 September.
Please note: if you are still studying for your degree, you do not need to wait for your result in the summer before applying. Applications can be considered now on the strength of current performance and, if successful, the award of the scholarship would be conditional upon you achieving a First class undergraduate honours degree later in the summer.
Selection
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of previous or current academic performance and future potential. The selectors will pay careful attention to the information you provide in the Scholarship application form. We welcome applications from students considering only a Masters degree and who are not seeking to undertake Doctoral study.
If you are ineligible you will not be entitled to an appeal against the decision but may ask for information as to why you were deemed ineligible.
Timetable
The deadline for application to an eligible Masters course is 1 August 2013. The deadline for the submission of the Scholarship application form is 1 August 2013.
Scholarships will be awarded in a series of monthly rounds starting in May, with successful applicants notified after each round and eligible, but unsuccessful applicants, automatically re-considered in the following round.
The final allocation round for scholarships will be in August, with the outcome of all decisions notified by Monday 9 September.
