This scholarship, established in 1996 upon the retirement of the University's long-serving Registrar, Dr Geoff Lockwood, is intended to encourage high-calibre graduate applications for MSc programmes.
The scholarship provides a bursary of £1,000 per year towards tuition fees. Only UK applicants are eligible for consideration. There is only one scholarship each year.
The scholarship is rotated between the science and technology schools, the school of Life Sciences and SPRU annually. For the 2013-14 academic year, the Geoff Lockwood Scholarship will be awarded to a student from SPRU.
Type of award
£1,000 Tuition Fee Waiver
The scholarship is only available to a fully self-financing UK MSc candidate who holds an offer of a place for October 2013 admission.
The main criteria for the award are proven academic excellence and personal motivation. The selectors will also take into account evidence of financial hardship.
You first apply for an MSc place in SPRU for October 2013 admission. If you are offered an MSc place and are eligible for the award you will be considered automatically. However it would assist in the selection process if you make an additional statement in support of your scholarship application, giving the reasons why you think it should be awarded to you. Attach the statement to your application form or, if you have already applied, send the statement to Elizabeth Tuudah (email@example.com). We must receive it by the deadline date of Friday 19 July 2013.
