Chancellor's International Research Scholarships (2013)

The University of Sussex has launched 50 new Chancellor's International Scholarships for overseas postgraduate research students. During 2013, the University is seeking to select its inaugrial cohort of 10 international research scholars.

Award amount

Awards will cover three years of tuition fees, maintenance (£13,500 each year) and provide a research training support grant.

Eligibility

Applications will need to identify with one of the University's six interdisciplinary research themes: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/research/themes

International fee paying (i.e. non-EU/UK) students from any discipline can apply.

Applicants must commence their academic studies in the United Kingdom by the start of the UK academic year in September 2013

Arts, humanities and social sciences - applicants will be expected to hold, by September 2013, the UK equivalent of a first class honours degree and a masters degree.

Science and engineering - applicants will be expected to hold, by September 2013, the UK equivalent of a first class honours degree and preferably a relevant postgraduate qualification, which will normally be a masters degree.

Applicants must exceed the University's English Language Requirements (IELTS or TOEFL) contained in the postgraduate prospectus.

  2. You must state in the "Other Information" section of the on-line admissions system that you are applying for the Chancellor's International Research Scholarship programme.

Further information

Successful international scholars will be expected to support the University's international strategy. This could include supporting international partnership development, promotional or ambassadorial activities, up to a maximum of 6 hours per week and not exceeding 180 hours in any one academic year.
