Registration
Welcome to the University of Sussex registration website.
Registration is the formal process of becoming a member of the University, enabling you to attend lectures, receive tuition, sit examinations, register with the Library and other facilities, and be a member of the Students' Union. It is primarily a financial process of paying fees and other charges; it is not where you sign up for classes. Teaching arrangements and class details will be given to you at the start of term through the School of Study to which you have been admitted.
The University issues two types of registration:
- Full registration, which is valid for a year;
- Provisional registration, which is valid for a limited period. This will be granted if you have not been able to fulfil all necessary requirements for full registration, but you will be given clear instructions on what to do to obtain full registration.
Prior to the start of your course you will be sent full information on how to complete the registration formalities. The Induction Handbook (also known as 'Starting with us') explains everything you need to know, for example::
- What documents to send back to the University before you arrive
- When to turn up at your accommodation (if applicable)
- How to register - for most students registration will take place online from 1st September.
- What to bring with you if you are required to register in person
- Welcome and induction events for new students
Part-time students in the Centre for Community Engagement attend registration events organised by CCE.
Returning postgraduates are written to by the Postgraduate Admissions Office during the summer vacation, explaining what needs to be done to re-register them for the following academic year.
There are certain things that you can do which will help to speed up the Registration process. Most importantly, read the Registration information which will be sent to you over the Summer.
