Join us for the Sussex Community Festival in June

All students and staff are invited to bring their friends, family and neighbours on to campus this summer, when we will be opening up our doors for a free Community Festival.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy a packed programme of events and activities for all ages, from 11am-4pm on Sunday 25 June.

The festival will offer sports classes, crafts and interactive workshops as well as live music, debates and guided tours.

On the day, you'll get to:

  • see how scientific discoveries are made with a guided lab tour
  • learn about law courts by engaging in a mock trial
  • explore a ‘bee’s eye view’ of the world using virtual reality
  • try out a range of exciting sports, including handball and extreme Frisbee
  • enjoy live music at our Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
  • discover the beautiful South Downs on a campus boundary walk.

We’ll also be running a ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ to teach children about medicine, performance workshops where you can meet your inner actor, and a variety of short talks and workshops where you can find out about our cutting‑edge research.

Keep an eye on the festival web pages, as a full programme of activities will be coming soon.

Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell says: “At Sussex we are lucky to be part of a vibrant mix of communities and cultures, and we care about the role we play.” You can find out about more and share your ideas on our web pages about the activities of Sussex in the community.

And don’t forget to email if you have an idea for a project that the University should be supporting, or for a way in which we could give back to the local community.
