Campus development works - impacts on access and parking

Pedestrian access along the section of Refectory Road adjacent to the East Slope construction site is closed

This update should give you an indication of what is planned for the coming week and how any works might affect you.

Campus roads

Refectory Road

IMPORTANT REMINDER - The footpath along Refectory Road between Swanborough residences and Park Village car park is closed to pedestrians. This section of Refectory Road will remain a vehicle-only route for the rest of the academic year and beyond, while works continue on the site of the new East Slope residences.

This route is extremely narrow and therefore hazardous for those on foot. In the interests of safety, pedestrians should refrain from walking along Refectory Road, even during periods when traffic appears to be quieter.

Other works

On Tuesday morning, 16 October the pedestrian footpath that runs behind the Health Centre will re-open following recent works to improve the pathway. Following completion of works to this main footpath, the section of path leading from the corner of Park Village car park, diagonally towards the playground, will be inaccessible while that part of the pathway is also upgraded.

Contractors working on the calcareous grassland site to the north-west of the campus continue to demobilise their equipment. Pedestrians walking in the area of Northfield residences should take extra care when crossing roads, while plant vehicles and machinery are removed from the site.

Neighbour parking

Please respect our neighbours, and do not park in Falmer village, Coldean or Stanmer Park (where the car parks are for park users only). These areas are subject to parking enforcement by the local authority, and are not for members of the campus community.
