Campus Roads

Space Day – Wednesday 12 September

On Wednesday 12 September, an event will take place on campus, with large numbers of children visiting from local schools. Between 8.30am and 11.15am, coaches will arrive on campus, and will drop visiting school parties at the bus stop located on North South Road. Visitors will be collected by coach from the same location between 2.00pm and 3.00pm.

It is possible that at some points during these times, additional congestion may appear along North South road, and pedestrians are also advised to cross with caution. During drop-off and pick-up times, routine bus services that call at the North South Road bus stop will be diverted to avoid the area. After dropping visitors off, all visiting coaches will be parked off-campus and should not impact parking.

Boiler House Hill

Roadworks are in place on Boiler House Hill while the pedestrian crossing is relocated.  This work is expected to be completed by Friday 14 September

Refectory Road:

Work to move some pipes has now been completed, and the road surface to the area is expected to be re-instated by Friday 14 September

ADVANCE NOTICE: From Monday 17 September, a long-term lane closure will implemented on the section of Refectory Road adjacent to the East Slope Construction site. The flow of vehicles will be managed using traffic lights.  It is expected that the lane closure will be in place throughout the next academic year and beyond, while construction of the new student residences continues. There will be no pedestrian access on this section of Refectory Road, and pedestrians should use the newly improved pathway behind Kent House and Kulukundis House.

Southern Ring Road & Science Park Road

Termporary road works will be in place adjacent to Sussex House in week commencing 10 September while a new pedestrian crossing is installed.

Line markings for the crossing further down the road near the Sports Centre car park will also be removed, as will the pedestrian crossing lines at the top of Science Park Road. (between Freeman building and Knights Gate car park).

Other works

Plant vehicles continue to access the calcareous grassland site via the road through Northfield residences until late September. All vehicles accessing the site will be managed by banksmen and marshals, but please be mindful of this activity when driving or walking in the area.
