Support available for students and staff

Following a number of major incidents in Manchester and London in recent weeks, we would like to remind students and staff where to seek support on campus.

During the week, students can contact the Student Life Centre in Bramber House, where the team are available Monday–Friday between 9am and 5pm. The Student Life Centre can also be contacted by phone on 01273 876767 or by email at

Students living on campus are able to access support at weekends via the Campus and Residential Support team, who are on hand 24/7 to talk to students with any concerns. All the information and phone numbers are available here

In case of emergency, students living on campus should contact Security on 01273 87 3333; they will contact the designated Residential Community Coordinator (RCC) and/or on-call Residential Support Manager, who provide a 24/7 service.

Any students living in the private sector who need out-of-hours welfare support can phone JAM, the out-of-hours call-back service, on (+44) (0)2089 383873. JAM will give guidance over the phone and will also contact the Residential Community Coordinator on duty, who will return the call within an hour.

Sussex staff are able to access occupational health services by contacting their HR advisor or speaking to their line manager.

Please do not hesitate to seek support if you need it.
