Doctoral award for SPRU alumnus
SPRU PhD graduate Björn Jindra has been awarded the 2012 Best Doctoral Dissertation award from the European Association of Comparative Economics Studies (EACES) for his thesis "Internationalisation theory and technological accumulation - An investigation of Multinational Affiliates in East Germany".
Björn received the award on Thursday (6 September) during the bi-annual EACES conference at the University of the West of Scotland in Paisley.
The thesis, which was supervised by Professor Nick von Tunzelmann and Professor David Dyker, was also published as a book by Palgrave Macmillan earlier this year.
Björn is now at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), where he leads a new research group on the internationalisation of production, R&D and innovation in Europe.
Earlier in the year, Björn was appointed as Co-ordinator for Research Planning and Evaluation in the new research management unit at IWH.
