Geography Overseas Field Class

Module L7024

Module details for 2017/18.

30 credits

FHEQ Level 5

Module Outline

In year two, all single honours Geography students – optional for Geography joint honours students - get to take part in a field class, either overseas or a non-residential one in Sussex. We offer an extensive and diverse set of international field class options for those who wish to choose them, recent examples including classes to Dubai, China, USA and with new field classes being developed. Students will carry out data collection – as broadly defined – for a period of no less than a week, before analysing and writing up the material both in the field and on return to Sussex. The field class presents an opportunity for faculty to familiarise students with a location in which they themselves may conduct research and gives students the experience of carrying out their own research in that location.
