Who are the Quakers?

Monday 23 November 13:00 until 13:30
using zoom.us.videoconferencing app
Speaker: Jason Evans

In response to the coronavirus outbreak, the usual weekly Experiment with Light and Focusing meditations have been moved online and complemented with some tried-and-tested mindfulness meditations.

Join me online any weekday from 1-1.30pm for some quiet meditation drawing on the Quaker tradition and other harmonious sources. Here is the full programme:

Monday – “Settle”: awareness of breath meditation.

Tuesday – “Experiment”: Experiment with Light meditation, a meditation devised by a Quaker, Rex Ambler, for bringing whatever is on your mind into the Light (the deepest part of yourself that is essentially good).

Wednesday – “Ground”: awareness of the body meditation.

Thursday – “Focus”: Focusing meditation, drawing on the psychotherapy and philosophical work of Eugene Gendlin.

Friday – “Rest”: Meditation for resting awareness with sound as a support.

The programme has been devised so that every day’s meditation provides a different aspect of quiet practice contributing to an integrated approach to finding peace and mental space. I leave plenty of space for silence in my meditations!

To join any of these send an email to me, the Quaker Chaplain at J.K.Evans@sussex.ac.uk . I will add you to a mailing list and you will then receive a reminder at the beginning of each week with links to join the meditations on zoom.

The meditations are offered on a purely drop-in basis: you are welcome to come to as many or as few as you like. Please do not share the zoom links online; if you know someone who is interested, ask them to email me (this helps me to keep it a safe and friendly space).
