Sussex appoints technology partner to transform student and academic services

The University of Sussex has reached a key milestone in transforming student and academic services, by appointing a technology partner to provide a new student-administration IT system.

The Student and Academic Administration Transformation (SAAT) programme is a major project, launched in 2015, to modernise the University’s academic administration services. It will allow the University to keep pace with innovation and prepare Sussex for the future.

The programme is using information and technology to enhance student services and involves major investment in the University’s IT systems.

Subject to contract, software company TechnologyOne – which provides technology solutions for 1,000 leading corporations, universities, government departments and statutory authorities globally - will be joining the SAAT programme to provide a new student-administration IT system for Sussex.

The company’s OneUniversity product is an innovative, cloud-based student-management system that supports the full student lifecycle, from admission to graduation.

Sharon Jones, programme sponsor who is leading the programme team, says: “The appointment of our technology partner marks an important step in the delivery of the SAAT programme. TechnologyOne’s system is based on the most up-to-date technology and is in sync with our approach to designing excellent services for students and staff.”

From May 2017, a number of staff from TechnologyOne will be working closely with the existing team on campus. The first phase of implementation will be delivered in summer 2018.

A range of job opportunities for current Sussex staff are now on offer in the SAAT programme. Most of the roles are for two years, and secondments from existing posts may be possible. See the University’s online information about current vacancies for details and the application process.
