Sussex Research has recently awarded funds to three Sussex academics to support the development of new networks over the next year.
The grants are funded by the Kick Start scheme, a University fund to connect Sussex academics with non-academic research users.
This is part of the University’s knowledge exchange activities, and is supported by the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF).
The third round of the Kick Start scheme received 11 applications and the following three awards were made:
Dr Anotida Madzvamuse, Reader in Mathematics, has been awarded funds to build new partnerships as well as advancing on-going partnerships with industrial stakeholders who are interested in the development and commercialization of software and algorithms for cell tracking.
Dr Marianna Obrist, Lecturer in Interaction Design, has been awarded funds to establish a new network on Multisensory Technology for Space Exploration with NASA and the International Space Medicine Consortium.
Dr Helena Howe, Lecturer in Law, has been awarded funds to develop a network between Sussex researchers in the Centre for Innovation and Research in Childhood and Youth with the Sussex Wildlife Trust and Natural England to explore the relationship between Forest Schools and children’s understandings of environmental rights and responsibilities.
