A dedicated space in the Library where researchers and academics can meet and discuss their work has been officially opened.

Professor Clare Mackie, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning), opened the new Sussex Research Hive on the second floor of the Library on Monday (29 November).

This dedicated space for research students and staff has been supported by a gift from academic and professional publisher SAGE.

Clive Parry, Global Marketing Director at SAGE, said: "Sussex's innovative approach to engaging the research community is one that we strongly identify with and are very pleased to support. We are delighted to be working with Sussex to see this initiative flourish."

Professor Bob Allison, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), introduced the three Sussex Research Hive Scholars: Craig Haslop, Jill Kirby and Chris Kempshall each spoke briefly about the work they will undertaking in the Hive over the next nine months.

Using the gift from SAGE, the Library intends to extend its programme of employing experienced doctoral students to work in the Hive, supporting and developing the space for a number of years.

The partnership with SAGE was developed with Jane Harvell and facilitated by the Development and Alumni Relations Office.
