On 27 April, the University wrote to all staff announcing that a second Voluntary Severance Scheme is now open. You can read the full email below.
The University’s second Voluntary Severance (VS) scheme is now open for staff to apply.
The scheme is a way to achieve savings by voluntary means and reduce the need for job losses. Staff have told us that VS is a preferred route to find savings as it is an opportunity for staff to choose to leave the University to pursue other career or personal interests.
You can find out more on the Voluntary Severance Scheme webpages which have information on how to apply, the scheme’s timescales and, most importantly, information about what it could mean for you.
Due to the ongoing pandemic and the fact that the previous scheme was less than 12 months ago we have kept this scheme on the same terms as the previous VS Scheme in 2020, for those eligible to apply.
How long is the VS scheme open for?
The VS scheme launches today (27 April) and runs until 26 May 2021.
Who can apply?
Our Voluntary Severance scheme is open to most staff and, as last time, we have ensured that the scheme has been meaningfully consulted on with our campus trade unions. Both Unite and Unison have endorsed and are supportive of a second Voluntary Severance scheme.
Who should I speak to?
If you are considering choosing VS you should speak to your Head of School, your Divisional Director or department head, or equivalent.
How can I find out more?
You can read more on our Voluntary Severance Scheme webpages which include:
- Information on how to apply,
- FAQs
- A ‘payment calculator’, which will estimate what your individual package will be
- The scheme’s timescales
- You can attend a webinar to hear more about the scheme and ask questions (questions can be asked anonymously). Please register using one of the links below:
