The University’s Director of Human Resources, Sheila Gupta, will be leaving Sussex in January to take up a new role leading Queen Mary University’s efforts on equalities, inclusion and diversity.
Sheila joined Sussex in 2017 and has been instrumental in driving forward important culture change initiatives and redefining the role of Human Resources at the University. She will leave the institution with a new HR Strategy in place and a detailed outline of continuous improvements that will be progressed over the next two years – including a recommended digitised HR service.
Commented Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell: “Sheila’s dedication to improving Human Resources services has been clear to see and she will leave here, having overseen some key developments at a time of transformation for the University.
“Sheila has been a strong advocate for equality at Sussex, showing that she cares passionately about the development of people of all backgrounds and grades.
“I have greatly valued her unwavering positive approach and how she has embodied the values of the institution in all that she does.
“On behalf of the University, I would like to thank Sheila for her tremendous service to Sussex and to wish her the very best in her new endeavours.”
Sheila Gupta said: “It’s been a privilege to work alongside colleagues to deliver the vision of Sussex 2025. It is with mixed emotions that I am leaving but look forward to hearing about the institution’s future success.”
The University will now begin recruiting for a new HR Director.
