Your chance to win prizes for cycling with Winter Wheelers

Experience the joys and benefits of riding a bike during December, and you can take part in a daily giveaway of winter cycling gear from leading brands.

Love to Ride Brighton and Hove will be giving away a prize a day from 1-25 December. Log your bike rides for the chance to win prizes from Proviz, Blaze and Torch, as well as two £500 vouchers to spend at the winners’ chosen local bike shop.

There are also prizes on offer for encouraging others to join in, for riding the most miles in December and for logging your winter cycling using the Ride Report app.

It doesn't matter whether you ride to campus, to the shop or just around the block, so long as you log your rides or connect your profile with the app.

It’s free to take part in the Winter Wheelers challenge; to find out more and to register, visit lovetoride.net/brighton.

Many students and staff took part in two previous cycle challenges in March and September 2017, organised by Brighton & Hove City Council with Love to Ride and Sustrans.

Winter Wheelers is just one more reason to get on your bike: Sussex students and staff have benefited this year from an ongoing programme of initiatives for cyclists.

In April, the University introduced a Cycle to Work scheme that means Sussex staff can obtain a bike and/or cycling accessories to use for riding to work while making tax and National Insurance savings from their gross pay.

The University is also part of the Brighton bike-share scheme, which went live in September. Just pick up a BTN Bike Share bicycle from the docking station outside the Sport Centre.

And in October, three new double-decker bike racks and additional u-shaped racks boosted the number of cycle parking spaces on campus by 160.

More information about cycling to campus – including advice about keeping your bike secure and tips on cycle maintenance - is available on the transport web pages.
