Applications in for Director of Estate Services
Another important step in the process of working with external partners for facilities management and catering is taking place with recruitment to a new role of Director of Estate Services.
The recruitment process is being handled by an executive search firm. Applications are now in and the University will be appointing from a strong field in the weeks ahead.
The new member of staff will be employed by the University, reporting to the Registrar & Secretary. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the partners deliver continuous improvement in high-quality services and for the development of the university estate.
The Registrar & Secretary, John Duffy, said: “This is the key strategic role driving forward the aims of the project, for leading a step change in these services to reflect the evolving needs of the community, and for providing the strategic vision that drives the development of our campus.”
The new Director will head the University’s ‘client management function’, which, as the original announcement in May 2012 made clear, is being created to run and oversee the contracts and services provided. The Director will lead the management of the relationship with the external partners.
The Registrar & Secretary added: “The Director will provide the leadership and vision for the development of our estate, facilities and infrastructure – a significant role, given our plans for major capital projects in the future to meet the strategic development goals of the University.”
The Director will also be responsible for liaising with key stakeholders in the University, including representatives of the student body.
Once in post, the Director will be helping the University to manage the transition process to the external partners, once preferred suppliers are identified in spring 2013.
