Sussex ranked again among UK’s top 15 and global elite
New rankings confirm the University of Sussex’s place among the top 15 universities in the UK and in the top one per cent of higher education institutions in the world.
Sussex is 13th in the UK, 34th in Europe and 110th in the world, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2012-13, published today (4 October 2012).
The University was also ranked among the top 50 universities (46th) in the world for its international outlook. The ranking is based on the proportion of overseas students and staff the University has on campus, as well as the proportion of papers published in collaboration with international authors.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Farthing, said: "It is good to see Sussex recognised once again as one of the very top institutions in the UK and the world.
“The world of university education is increasingly competitive. This year has seen institutions in the Asia-Pacific region reaping the benefits of massive investment and challenging the traditional global elite.
“We’ve so far shown remarkable adaptability in this challenging environment – we’ve grown, innovated, and invested in our future. These rankings show that it’s vital we continue on this path.”
The rankings are the most widely recognised and widely used among international students, research has found.
