No trains to or from campus this Sunday
Due to engineering works, no trains will stop at or depart from Falmer Station this Sunday (16 September).
New students arriving by train are being advised to travel instead to Brighton Station where there will be a free minibus shuttle service to take them and their luggage to their campus residences.
A University welcome team wearing green t-shirts will be at Brighton Station to greet new arrivals.
Southern Railway will also be running a replacement bus service, but this will stop at other train stations before reaching campus and so will take longer.
There will also be fewer trains running directly between London and Brighton.
For more information, go to the Southern website.
Trains will be running as usual on Saturday (15 September) when the majority of the thousands of new students are expected to arrive for the start of Welcome Weekend.
On both Saturday and Sunday, buses will not run to the far end of campus because of the extra traffic as freshers move in to their new campus homes. Buses will stop before the Fulton building on Boiler House Hill before turning to leave the campus as usual.
It's ok - the replacement bus service didn't even stop anywhere near campus on the 8:09 bus and so I ended up in Lewes because the bus driver was too ignorant to realise that it wasn't his normal bus route
A very poor service

I assume someone has made a strong complaint to Southern Rail. I understand this is not a unique occurrence at student induction time.
