Erasmus/Study Abroad Council Tax Exemption

All (EU and Overseas) Erasmus/Study Abroad students studying at the University of Sussex for the whole academic year can apply for a Council Tax Exemption Letter.

Students studying for 1 semester from EU countries

Erasmus/Study Abroad students from EU countries studying at the University of Sussex for 1 semester only, can claim Council Tax exemption but will need to provide 2 letters:

  1. A letter from your home University detailing your attendance there.
  2.  A Student Confirmation Status letter from the University of Sussex, from the Student Systems and Records Office SSRO, Bramber House, Level 1.

You need to take both these documents to the Council they will assess your situation on a case-by-case basis.

Students studying for 1 Semester from Overseas countries

Erasmus/Study Abroad Students from overseas countries studying at the University of Sussex for 1 semester only are not exempt unless they live in University owned accommodation.
