Biography

Dr. Michael Sheriff is a Teaching Fellow in Project Management with Innovation and Strategy Studies at SPRU (Science Policy Research Unit) at the University of Sussex. Before joining SPRU, he has worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Padua in Italy. Prior to joining the University of Padua, he has worked in industry as a consultant and mechanical engineer. He has also worked in international organizations as project manager in Europe and Africa. He has been actively involved in research activities in the fields of project management, innovation and entrepreneurship. He has researched innovative startups in Italy. He has also participated in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) research for Italy and was a member of the National GEM Team. He has published several papers in these fields.  He is a project management professional (PMP).

Michael has received research funding from the European Social Fund as principal investigator for a research project on the topic “Design of a Smart Tourism Location Model.” He has also been a researcher for the UNIDO entrepreneurs for social change program. Michael holds a Ph.D. (European Doctorate) in Management Engineering, MSc in Project and Innovation Management and B.Eng. (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering. He is a certified PMP (PMI) and he is a recipient of the 2018 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual fellowship Grant. His main research interests are in project management, innovation and entrepreneurship. He is presently a Marie Curie Research Fellow executing a research on circular economy entrepreneurship in Denmark at the University of South Denmark.
